This is my weekly summary for November 14th-18th, 2011.
Tuesday - November 15th:
In this class we mostly reviewed skills we had learned in previous classes, perfecting and working on our technique.
We started the class with a free signing exercise, which now, because of daily videos and repetition in class, are becoming very comfortable and easy.
We continued with Picture Signing, which is an exercise in which we describe the photograph that Professor Carl puts on the overhead. This time though, when we described the photograph, we were only allowed to use classifiers, not any real signs. This FORCED me to be observant, pay attention to detail and creative in using classifiers as my main source of communication. I really liked this exercise and believe it will be very helpful to us.
We continued class by doing the same picture signing exercise, but this time in smaller groups. We described the photo to our classmates while Professor Carl and Erin walked around and helped us with ideas and classifier use.
Thursday - November 17th:
This class was actually cancelled because Professor Carl had a reaction to his medication and was in the hospital. :-( I hope he is doing MUCH better by now!
About 12 of us stayed and practiced our vocabulary review as a group, with Erin leading us and helping when we didn't know the signs. It was good practice, even if we weren't able to have regular class.
It was a very good week, in my opinion. I look forward to next week and hope that Professor Carl is able to join us by Tuesday.
